Sprout the chef, has come to work at the palace for Princess Saffron and
the King. Here he meets Pea who he believes is a colleague in the
kitchen. But all is not as it seems and all is not well, in fact the
whole palace is unwell due to the Princess’s unhealthy diet. Can Sprout
whisk up a plan to get the Princess and Pea eating a balanced diet, or
will his knowledge of healthy living curdle the Princess’s assumed
character and will his actions eventually unearth the truth? Join Pea
and Sprout on an adventure of messy madness and exploding pies, as they
discover the reasons behind the Princess’s displeased demeanour and the
real goings on behind the scenes in the palace.

Tales supports the National Healthy Schools Programme and especially
focuses on three of the core themes; Healthy Eating, Physical Activity
and Emotional Health and Well-being. The play has been devised for the
whole school with follow on workshops that have been developed to look
at some of the ideas and choices made within the story. There will also
be a teachers’ pack available with activities and reference
material for workshops in the classroom.
