Stiltskin create arts and theatre projects for children between the ages of 4-15 within Plymouth and the South West. We are an independent grass roots community interest company (CIC). Stiltskin has been running for 16 years creating great projects for, with and by children. Our artists Iain Slade and Jacqueline Ball have been working with children for the past 20 years or so. Trained in London and Dartington, and international artists they have set up The Soapbox Theatre in Devonport Park to bring all of their skills together, to give children the opportunity to flourish and engage their imaginations through the arts.
Our arts and theatre activities for children and their families link to local communities using social history and local stories to connect them with their world past, present and future. We also use stories, myths and legends and current issues as a catalyst for projects within primary schools and local communities.
We aim to engage young minds, stimulate imaginations and creative abilities with projects that are relevant and inspiring. Stiltskin engage and bring together communities throughout the South West with large parade projects, arts festivals, theatre shows, storytelling and bespoke art workshops with a fun filled pop-up programme of events.
Our projects aim to raise aspirations, help children gain and build confidence and are accessible to all. We encourage social inclusion giving children a voice and broadening their horizons. We are passionate about children experiencing cultural opportunities and seek innovative ways of making this happen.
